"This is precisely why this sport is also suitable for people who want to lose weight and tighten their bodies," explained the fitness specialist.

There is a swimming course for beginners. It is of secondary importance which swimming style you choose: "For beginners, back swimming is particularly recommended." This style is also ideal for people who suffer from back tension, for example. "As with any other sport, it is important to start slowly and gradually improve," says Graser. A swimming course is especially recommended for beginners to learn the right technique. In order to increase your health and fitness in the long term, you have to stay tuned regularly. No miracles can be expected either. You should go swimming twice a week.

No sport in the event of a flu infection. However, other experts are somewhat more critical of swimming. For example, sports expert Professor Ingo Froböse from the Center for Health at the German Sport University in Cologne had declared years ago that the water pressure presses on the vessels, which in turn presses on the heart. Experts generally agree that, despite the health-promoting effects, you shouldn't overdo it with any sport. And in the case of diseases such as a cold, sports should be avoided anyway. After a fever, for example, you should take a break from a flu for at least three days, otherwise the infection can spread to the heart. And this with bad consequences such as rapid heartbeat, chest pain and irregular heartbeat. (ad)
