The pubic area is generally understood to mean the area down the lower abdomen between the two hips or thighs. However, experts distinguish between the pubic (regio pubica) and genital (regio genitalis) areas. The pubic area lies above the genitals between the two groins and is actually part of the lower abdomen.
The buttocks are formed from the so-called ischial legs at the lower end of the pelvis as well as the covering buttock muscles and a more or less pronounced layer of fat. In principle, the buttocks represent the connection between the back and the thigh on the back. The buttocks are seen as a cross-gender attractiveness feature in humans and at the same time as a rather impure part of the body.
The chest is the front area of the human upper body between the neck or shoulders and the lower costal arch. The bony base of the chest is the rib cage with the sternum and ribs. The latter extend to the back of the thoracic spine, which also forms part of the chest, but cannot be assigned to the area of the chest.
The inguinal region (regio inguinalis) forms the transition between the abdomen and thigh on both sides, whereby it superficially represents part of the abdominal wall. The inguinal region is limited at the top by an imaginary connecting line between the two iliac crests, towards the middle or diagonally below by the straight abdominal muscle and the pubic region.
The abdomen forms the front section of the upper body between the chest and pelvis. The abdominal area is further divided into the upper abdomen (above the navel, between the costal arches to the lower tip of the sternum), middle abdomen (bone-free area around the navel) and the lower abdomen (below the navel, between the pelvic bones).
The hip forms the connection between the upper body and legs on both sides. It encompasses the area between the upper edge of the pelvis and the upper end of the thigh bone - i.e. the hip joint, with all the tissue structures above it. The movement of the hip joint is controlled by numerous different muscles such as the iliopsoas muscle, the large gluteus muscle (gluteus maximus muscle) or the adductors.
The back of the human torso is commonly referred to as the back, which connects upwards to the neck and ends downwards at the level of the coccyx. The back is formed from the spine, the back sections of the ribs and the relatively pronounced back muscles and the surrounding connective tissue structures.
The upper body is defined differently in the language. The term is sometimes used as a synonym for the thorax (chest), on the other hand, the entire trunk - i.e. the body without extremities and head - is also referred to as the upper body. At this point, the term should be understood to mean the part of the body between the hip and neck, including the chest, back and abdomen.
